Hi there! I’m Victoria the (loud and occasionally funny) voice behind A Gallon of Glitter 🙂
I’m a born and raised Northern Virginia girl. Yes, I say ‘Northern’ Virginia, because yes, there is a difference between the northern part versus the rest of Virginia! And anyone from the top part of Virginia will be sure to let you know that hah! I went to a private high school in the area – and then graduated a few years ago from the University of Virginia (Class of 2013) – I moved back here after graduating and can’t seem to leave the area! I love being outside DC because it’s a quick drive into the city, there’s a ton of fun stuff to do while you’re there, and you get to leave the craziness when you want to!
English! I loved every minute of it – I’ve always been an avid reader and I enjoy writing as well, so it was a joy going to class. I really, really enjoyed my time there (although the work was insanely difficult…to be expected from the #2 public university in the nation – Wahoowa – making TJ proud)
I work in property management – it’s a crazy environment and no day is ever the same. Dealing with people can be…difficult, yet rewarding at the same time. But mostly difficult 😉 The common dilemma for the working girl is dressing appropriately (and on a budget) for work and being able to transition that look into happy hour/going out afterwards. #firstworldproblems
Honestly, for the creative outlet. I missed writing papers (I know, total nerd) and love to word vomit my thoughts down. You may have noticed my writing style around here is “all over the place stream of consciousness” but that’s only because I always have constant dialogue happening in my head that needs to get out. Some might call that a disorder, but I like to call it embracing my “Gemini” zodiac sign (I’m a May baby!) I tend to get a little hot headed (I’m Italian…it’s in my blood) – so having an outlet for my thoughts is amazing. I also love shopping – I spent years (12 to be exact) wearing a uniform in private school, and while that made getting ready every day super easy, it made me go a little crazy clothes shopping once I got to college. I liked being able to buy and style things and wear whatever I wanted to wear – which turned into a love for fashion and the catalyst behind this blog today!
Well – it used to be my mother, and my boyfriend would occasionally help out – but then I found Rudy Conrad Photography and things have never been the same – it was blog love at first snap! He is beyond amazing, and almost every photo posted since August 2016 has been because of him! He is officially the man behind the blog pics – and if you’re from the DMV and need a photographer – you can find him HERE
This is too difficult – I love so many. 3 that always make my top ten: Watership Down, The Tea Rose, and the entire Harry Potter Series
My Cousin Vinny – and anything that makes me laugh
Again, anything funny – some favorites are Seinfeld, Parks and Rec, Archer, 30 Rock, Modern Family, Silicon Valley (and then the guilty ones everyone secretly watches like anything in the ‘Bachelor’ franchise, Real Housewives, Fixer Upper – Bravo TV, TLC…the list goes on)
Anywhere warm that has a beach. Lying on the beach, reading a book, and drinking a pina colada…all time favorite
UM YES AM I HUMAN? Too many to count…but an embarrassing one is the fact that I love the series ‘Laverne and Shirley’. Never heard of it? Not surprising. It’s an old classic tv show that I used to watch when I was 3…I would sneak downstairs in the morning while my family was still asleep to watch all the old TV land shows: I Dream of Jeannie, The Brady Bunch, Happy Days, Bewitched…I loved them all! I am still a fan of TV Land to this day…I thoroughly enjoyed Hot in Cleveland and The Exes…yes I am actually 70 years old…you caught me
I could down 20 chocolate covered strawberries in one sitting – they are my all time favorite. And by could I mean I have…I may have gotten sick but it was totally worth it. Other favorites include chocolate covered raisins and anything with caramel!
Ever heard of Snappers? If you haven’t, you’re welcome. They are the most amazing caramel, chocolatey, salty snack. I can’t get enough of them (I consider them to be a snack…some might think they are a dessert, tomato, tomatoh)
I do love some country music – I enjoy anything, really. But I especially love the old stuff – Patsy Cline, Frank Sinatra, all the crooners. I will blame my grandparents for that one
In the fall/winter – has to be a PSL. Any other time, an “In-and-Out Caramel Macchiato” – trust me. It’s amazing. Maybe add on a birthday cake pop, if I’m treatin’ myself (0r if my plan is to go into a sugar coma for the day…)
I can recite, in Middle English, the General Prologue of Canterbury Tales by heart
I know ASL (American Sign Language)
I played soccer since age 3 and picked up lacrosse in high school – my favorite sports – perfect outlets to get out any inner rage
I think I am really, really good at impressions. I still hold out hope that I could be on SNL – hey, if Tina Fey could do it (she also went to UVA) – why couldn’t I? I’ll be waiting for your call, Lorne.
My motto has always been “More is More” instead of (to her dismay) my mother’s “Less is More” philosophy. To me, I’ve never been satisfied with a small slice of something; I was the child putting gobs of glue and glitter onto anything my hands touched. “The more glitter, the better” – courtesy of my five-year-old self…and my current age self too!
The title of my blog aptly matches up with my life theme: The more of what you love, the better. If I love something, I want a whole lot of it: a gallon of it to be exact. And I really love glitter haha
A Gallon of Glitter focuses on fashion and style for career-oriented young women – without breaking the bank
completely . From day to night and everything in between, I hope this can be a place for you to stop by daily, have a laugh, and find something inspiring to incorporate in your own closet/life!
Why settle for a sprinkle or a dash of what you love, when you could have a GALLON of it? 😉
