It’s never too early to start talking New Year’s Resolutions! But today we aren’t talking about your typical “Go to the gym”, “Get organized”, “Travel more” resolutions: we’re talking “Fashion Resolutions”! Pictured above are the items that inspired my 2016 Top 5 Fashion Resolutions, brought to you by Farfetch. In case you aren’t familiar, Farfetch is an international website that not only houses top luxury designers and goods, but is also home to emerging and contemporary brands from small, independent boutiques. This means you can go ahead and splurge for that YSL bag while still grabbing a unique piece that no one else has – all in the same place. Saving you time: one click at a time.
I don’t know about you, but I’m one of those people who sees a new fashion trend and initially thinks “Hmmm…cute on her, but I could never pull that off”. Then, months later, after seeing the trend styled in different ways and by different people, I’ll think “I can TOTALLY pull that off!” and then become obsessed* with the trend (*I’m looking at you, rompers and jumpsuits).
So starting this year, my style resolution is to not be afraid of new styles: I will no longer wait to try new things and I’m going to really embrace all the fashion trends of 2016, most importantly these 5 trends below!
1 – Fringe – something I have yet to incorporate in my closet in 2015, so I’d love to give it a try in 2016! With the help of Burberry and this beautiful magenta color, I think I could definitely get my fringe on!
2 – The Color Orange – I’ve always been afraid of this color, even though it was part of my college’s school colors (navy+orange). I don’t own a single piece of clothing in the color, but with this dress I’m thinking I could get behind it (or rather, in it). Not only is it a bright persimmon color, but it also incorporates another huge Spring 2016 Trend – “Off-the-Shoulder” – so I’d be killing two trends with one dress!
3 – Plaid – I never, ever wear plaid because in my mind, it gets associated with the school uniform I wore for 8 years (not that the uniform was bad, but you tend to get tired of wearing the same thing day after day for that long) However, I don’t think I’d get tired of wearing this coat day after day. Not only is the plaid unlike the boring, dreary, plaid days of private school past, but the color combination is so delightful! I would wear this coat every day come spring and I’m pretty sure it would be impossible to be in any other mood but happy while wearing it.
4 – Mules (no, not the animal…the shoe) – something I’ve shied away from in 2015, I’d love to try this out for 2016 – and there are so many cute options out there! This one has an essential for me, glitter, so that means I have to buy it, right?
5 – Summer Sequins – Sequins were all over the Spring 2016 runway this year, but not just your typical silver and gold sequins; these were chock full of color! This makes me all kinds of excited since it makes it socially acceptable to now wear glitter in the summer – and colorful glitter at that! This pick has to be my favorite thing on the entire list because it combines all my loves into one outfit: jumpsuit, sequins, color, florals – gah it is beautiful…(hear that, Santa?)
